The WE Knife Co. Drakon is a beautifully designed integral frame pocket folding knife.  Crafted of 6AL4V Titanium and M390 Bohler blade steel, the Drakon employs the same dragon scale type milling of it's predecessor the WE Model 604.  With an overall length of 8" and a weight of only 3.8 ounces, I can highly recommend this knife to you as an excellent everyday carry knife.

Handle Construction

The 819 Drakon handle is constructed of 1 solid piece of titanium,(integral).  Beautifully contoured, the intricate dragon scale milling demonstrates the WE Knife Co. expert craftsmenship and manufacturing expertise.  The attention to detail is noticeable down to the same dragon scale milling even on the replaceable lockbar insert which also provides additional longevity to the life of the knife.  Though the milling may be a very busy design, it is artistically tastetful.  Although reminiscent of the Model 604 which was a two piece frame,  the straight forward simple handle feels very comfortable in the hand. The show side of the knife presents extremely well because there is only one contact point at the pivot. I was deceived by the weight, it felt a little heavy for the size, but at only 3.8 oz, I can say it is a lightweight edc knife.

 Knife Blade

The blade is cut and shaped of Bohler M390 steel.  M390 has excellent edge retention and corrosion resistant qualities and is one of the premium blade steels for pocket knives of this type.  Offered in a flat ground satin stonewash and black stonewash finish, the blade fits the overall design of the handle.  Deployment of the blade can be executed by use of the thumb hole or flipper tab.  Fuller grooves surround the thumb hole and run toward the tip of the blade.  The thumb hole not only provides a secondary method of deployment, but also affords the knife with a nicely jimped thumb ramp on the spine of the blade.  Blade grind is very interesting on the blades edge, starting at the belly of the blade and increasing in width as it works up towards the blade tip.  By the way, just to note the blade comes extremely sharp out of the box........no surprise.  A finger choil was provided but for my medium sized hands, overall felt a bit small.  The blade shape compliments the handle in this extremely well built knife model.

The titanium pocket clip has plenty of spring and is tastefully done.  The frame lock has 3 relief cuts which I might even believe is a shot at a little branding.  It's OK here it looks great.

For those of you in the market for a pocket knife using premium materials, flawless fit and finish with striking design, the WE CO. 819 Drakon may be the knife for you.  The MSRP on the knife is currently $374.00 and it is a chunk of change.  That said, for everything this knife is..............I take no issue with the price.  You can find these knives at blades-edge.com
